Betrayed by those she trusted, former lady’s maid Jenny Wilcox is desperate for money to support her young siblings. When she is offered a position in the costume department of London’s Mercury Theatre, she jumps at the opportunity. But dressing volatile lead actress Lilith is more than she reckoned on. Scandalous and talented in equal measures, Lilith claims to have made a pact with the Tragic Muse to secure her success. Jenny is sceptical, but as Lilith’s star rises, accidents begin to take place around the theatre. With her beliefs and loyalties torn, Jenny starts to fear that when the Muse comes calling for payment, the cost will be too high.
